Cooper: Civilians and healthcare facilities are under no circumstances legitimate targets
London, December 9 (Hibya) – UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper stated in her remarks on Sudan that civilians and healthcare facilities are in no circumstances legitimate targets.
Foreign Secretary Cooper said that the horrifying events in Sudan continue.
Emphasizing that civilians and healthcare facilities can never be legitimate targets, Cooper said, “Regardless of which side of the conflict they are on, the perpetrators of these horrific crimes must be held accountable.”
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus previously announced that repeated attacks in Sudan’s South Kordofan state targeted a kindergarten and at least three times the nearby Kalogi Rural Hospital. According to WHO’s Surveillance System for Attacks on Healthcare, 114 people — including 63 children — were killed and 35 others injured.
