Fire at Chevron refinery in Los Angeles
Washington, October 3 (Hibya) – An explosion and fire have been reported at the Chevron refinery in the city of El Segundo, located south of Los Angeles, United States.
According to CNN, officials announced a large fire at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo, south of Los Angeles.
As reported by KCAL/KCBS, local fire units responded to the scene following reports of an explosion.
According to Chevron’s website, the refinery has its own firefighting team. LA County Supervisor Holly Mitchell told KCAL/KCBS that crews had managed to contain the fire to a single section of the facility.
Authorities urged residents in the area to remain indoors. Mitchell also stated that the fire was likely to affect air quality.
El Segundo Mayor Chris Pimentel told KCAL/KCBS that no injuries had been reported and the cause of the fire remained unclear.
