According to media reports, four of the five killed were international employees of the aid organisation, hailing from Poland, Australia, Ireland and the UK respectively. The fifth employee was Palestinian.

World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés confirmed the incident in a post on X, saying: "Today WCK (World Central Kitchen, ed.) lost many of our sisters and brothers in the airstrike in Gaza, I am devastated and mourn for their families, friends and the entire WCK family.

The Israeli army, the IDF, wrote in X that the army is thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the 'tragic incident'.

The IDF stated that the IDF is working hard to ensure the safe delivery of humanitarian aid and is working closely with WCK (World Central Kitchen) in its important work of providing food and humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
