Ghebreyesus: Up to 1.2 billion people could be displaced by 2050 due to climate
Geneva, November 22 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that climate-related events could displace up to 1.2 billion people by 2050.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus warned that climate-related events could displace up to 1.2 billion people by 2050.
He emphasized that the climate crisis is a health crisis particularly affecting migrants’ health, adding: “This is why we want migrant health to be included in the COP29 declaration and future COP conferences.”
Ghebreyesus highlighted the critical importance of working together to ensure that everyone, everywhere, has access to the healthcare services they need in a rapidly changing world.
