Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi's Meetings in Rome
Rome, May 24 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi met with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
According to a statement from the ministry, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, who visited Rome to attend the fifth round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, met with Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
The Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Gallagher, also attended the meeting. During the meeting, Araghchi offered his condolences on the death of Pope Francis and congratulated the election of Pope Leo XIV.
Araghchi conveyed Iran's position on the right of its people to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and informed senior Vatican officials of the progress made in the indirect Iran-U.S. negotiations.
The meeting also addressed the current state of bilateral relations between Iran and the Vatican, interfaith dialogue, and peace talks.
