Macron: Our allies can rely on France
Paris, June 9 (Hibya) - French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed France’s solidarity with Northern European and Baltic countries during an online meeting with the leaders of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden.
During the meeting, which focused on the Russia-Ukraine war and European security, Macron emphasized that France’s military and diplomatic support for the region would continue. Macron said, “Russia is failing in Ukraine. This shows that its claims regarding territorial and strategic objectives have yielded no results.”
Arguing that Russia continues to exert pressure on its neighbors, Macron stated, “We will stand together against it.” He drew attention to France’s military presence in Estonia and Romania, NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission, and cooperation initiatives with countries in the region.
Macron also stressed that support for Ukraine would continue, stating, “We are maintaining our support so that Ukraine can resist, gain the upper hand, and negotiate from a position of strength. Our allies and partners can rely on France.”
