Wong: Australian officials ordered to leave Israel and the UAE
Canberra, March 12 (Hibya) - Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced that non-essential personnel in Israel and the United Arab Emirates will be evacuated due to the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong shared new decisions taken in response to the increasing security risks in the region.
Providing information on the situation of diplomatic personnel, Wong said: "The Australian government has ordered non-essential Australian officials stationed in Israel and the United Arab Emirates to leave due to the deteriorating security situation. Australian officials whose duties are essential will remain in the country to support Australians who need assistance."
Repeating travel warnings to citizens, Minister Wong said: "We continue to advise Australians not to travel to Israel and the United Arab Emirates. We ask you to leave the Middle East if possible and if it is safe to do so."
Emphasizing that time is limited for the evacuation process, Wong stated: "Act before it is too late. This may be your last chance for a while."
