70th Anniversary of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University
Established in 1955, the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, it offers educational programs in Jurisprudence, Civil Law, Corporate Law, Customs Affairs, Law Enforcement Activities, and other fields.
Established in 1955, the Faculty of Law has undergone numerous stages of reform and modernization. Today, it offers educational programs in Jurisprudence, Civil Law, Corporate Law, Customs Affairs, Law Enforcement Activities, and other fields. Training is provided at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Students of the Faculty of Law have the opportunity to pursue master's and Ph.D. degrees.
The Faculty is distinguished by its outstanding scientific potential, capable of addressing complex academic and practical legal challenges. It employs 15 academicians of the National Legal Academy of Kazakhstan, 30 Doctors of Law and Professors, over 70 Candidates of Sciences, 30 Ph.D. holders, as well as highly qualified practitioners from the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Government of Kazakhstan, the Presidential Administration, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, the National Academy of Sciences, and law enforcement agencies. Many of them have completed internships at universities in the United States, Europe, Turkey, and other countries.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is Dr. Ualikhan Akypbekovich Akhatov.

The department is staffed by 28 faculty members, including 4 Doctors of Law, 4 Ph.D. holders, and 10 Candidates of Legal Sciences. The team provides instruction in 67 disciplines, including Civil Law, Civil Procedure, Corporate Law, Labor Law, and Intellectual Property Law.
The department’s activities focus on:

The faculty members have extensive practical experience, enriching the students' education with both theoretical knowledge and essential practical legal skills.
Throughout the years, the department was honored to have had eminent scholars and educators, including Professors S.A. Dimitrova, E.N. Nurgaliyeva, V.N. Uvarov, and others, contributing significantly to its development. Notable department heads included Professor Koben Abzhanovich Abzhanov, who led the department until 1981 and authored over 70 scientific works, including the monograph “The Labor Contract in Soviet Law”. Subsequent leaders such as Professors K.A. Shaibekov, N.G. Murzin, and others continued the department’s advancement.
Since September 2023, the department has been led by Dr. Saule Zhusupbekovna Suleimenova, Doctor of Legal Sciences and Professor.
Today, the department team includes distinguished scholars such as Dr. S.T. Tynybekov, Dr. G.G. Nurakhmetova, D.A. Ospanova, Ph.D. Dr. N.D. Myrzatayev, among others.
For her outstanding contributions to legal science, strengthening independence, national unity, charity development, and fostering Kazakhstani patriotism, Professor Saule Zhusupbekovna Suleimenova holds a special place in Kazakhstan's legal community.
Ph.D. Dr. N.D. Myrzatayev, who began his career within the court system of Almaty, gained invaluable skills in judicial procedures, document management, and legal education. Alongside his academic work in multiple universities, he practiced as a legal expert in public procurement. He has taught at all three academic levels — undergraduate, master's, and doctoral — and supervised internships, research seminars, and scientific practices.
As Deputy Head for Scientific-Innovative Work and International Relations of the Department of Civil Law, Civil Procedure, and Labor Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Dr. Myrzatayev has been recognized among the top 50 internal academic indicators, achieving 14th place. He has published over 200 scientific works, authored more than 10 textbooks and teaching manuals, and produced 6 monographs.
