Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, in a statement on July's employment figures, discussed the impact of stronger-than-expected job creation on economic growth and the labour market.

Referring to the economic data released, Anand said, "Canada created 75,000 new jobs in July, exceeding economists' expectations. This brings employment growth since April to 181,000, while the unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level in two years."

Emphasizing the contribution of employment growth to citizens' standard of living, Anand said, "More Canadians are finding good jobs, businesses continue to hire, and our labour market is moving in the right direction."

Noting that they are creating career opportunities, Anand concluded, "With gains across many key sectors, we are creating more opportunities for people to build careers, support their families, and get ahead."
