ESA: Hubble Space Telescope observes 3I/ATLAS again
Istanbul, December 5 (Hibya) – NASA/ESA's Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera re-observed the interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS on November 30 using its three instruments.
The European Space Agency (ESA) stated, “At that time, the comet was about 286 million km away from Earth. Hubble tracked its movement across the sky, causing background stars to appear as streaks of light.”
“Hubble had previously observed 3I/ATLAS in July shortly after its discovery, and many observatories have examined the comet since then. Observations are expected to continue for several more months as 3I/ATLAS moves away from the solar system.”
ESA also described the details of the Hubble image:
“At the center of the image is a bright white point surrounded by a large, soft blue glow that gradually fades into the dark background. Thin, faint diagonal lines appear across the image, indicating distant movement or stars. Overall, the effect resembles a glowing object shining in space against a deep, dark backdrop.”
