Anand: US–Iran agreement is an important step for regional stability
Ottawa, June 15 (Hibya) – Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said that the agreement reached between the United States and Iran is an important step toward reducing tensions in the Middle East and restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Anand made a statement regarding the agreement reached between the United States and Iran.
Anand stated that the agreement is a critical development in terms of reducing regional tensions, strengthening stability, and restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. She called on all parties to work toward a swift and lasting resolution of the ongoing conflicts in the region.
The statement also expressed appreciation for the diplomatic initiatives that contributed to the process, noting that the efforts of Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Marco Rubio, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty played an important role.
It was emphasized that Canada will continue cooperating with international partners to protect regional security and maritime trade routes, while also supporting negotiations aimed at preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
