Canadian Foreign Minister Joly stated that Canada welcomes the Ukraine-US negotiations, including the proposed ceasefire and the resumption of security assistance.

Emphasizing that the ceasefire must be the first step toward lasting peace, Joly said: "Now the ball is in Russia's court to end its aggression and stop the bloodshed. I am encouraged that the agreement includes humanitarian needs, such as prisoner exchanges and the return of Ukrainian children."

Joly stressed that Canada will continue to firmly support Ukraine and will work to end this illegal occupation, prevent future attacks, and build a future where Ukraine is independent, sovereign, and free.
