Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that landmark government legislation has come into force in many areas, ranging from the housing crisis and the criminal justice system to protecting democracy and delivering justice for victims of violence.
Sharing the scope of the newly enacted measures, Carney said: "A big week for Canada. Landmark government legislation has come into force to build more affordable housing, protect vulnerable communities, safeguard our democracy, strengthen the bail and criminal justice system, and bring justice to those affected by intimate partner violence and sexual violence."
Summarizing the core objective of these reforms, Carney concluded: "We are building a stronger, fairer, and more equitable country for everyone."
