"Cat ladies" come together in support of Kamala Harris
Washington, July 31 (Hibya) - A group of animal lovers and self-described “cat ladies” gathered for the latest in a series of Zoom calls in support of Kamala Harris' presidential campaign.
Christine Pelosi, daughter of Nancy Pelosi and political consultant, and Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried hosted the meeting on Tuesday evening.
The call was organized not around racial and ethnic identity but as a response to comments made in 2021 by Donald Trump's running mate, JD Vance, who told then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson that the United States was run by Democrats, corporate oligarchs and “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are unhappy with their own lives and the choices they made and so they want to make the rest of the country unhappy, too.”
Tuesday's meeting began with a slideshow of pet photos accompanied by Abba's Dancing Queen.
A surprise guest, Nancy Pelosi, sang along to the song before telling the audience that the meeting's purpose was to support women's freedom to “love how they want to love and live how they want to live.”
