Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

The Danish Prime Minister is in Greenland to strengthen relations with the new government.

After a tour on the defense ship Vædderen, Frederiksen held a short press conference in Greenland.

She is visiting to reinforce ties between the Danish and Greenlandic governments after the US significantly ramped up its rhetoric about wanting to take control of Greenland.

At the press conference, Frederiksen said she understands that people in Greenland have been feeling insecure lately.

She stated: “The storm that hit you and us is very strong. And it has probably just begun. You cannot annex other countries.”

Shortly after, she addressed Americans directly, delivering the same message in both Danish and English to ensure it reached the White House.

She began by stating that Denmark has always looked up to the United States, and that the US has inspired Denmark because the free world must always come first.

“But when you demand to take over part of the Kingdom’s territory, when we are pressured and threatened by our closest allies — what are we supposed to believe about the country we have admired for so many years?” she continued.

When asked whether the Danish side had tried to arrange a meeting with Donald Trump, Frederiksen replied she was seeking “close and appropriate dialogue.”

She concluded: “As the Danish government, we have been very clear. We respected the elections in Greenland, then the negotiations for a new government, and now we are in a different situation where we can negotiate with the American president. We want to strengthen security in the Arctic and are happy to cooperate with the Americans on this matter.”
