Earth's resources for this year are already exhausted
Stockholm, August 1 (Hibya) - Today, the world's countries have almost exhausted the Earth's resources for this year.
That's why Thursday is called “World Overshoot Day.” Since the beginning of the year, the world's countries have used the amount of resources that the planet's ecosystems can regenerate in 12 months.
The Global Footprint Network made the calculations, and this year, the day falls one day earlier than last year.
The date has not changed much in the last twenty years, but when the calculations were first made in 1971, it was December 25.
Denmark reached the so-called Overshoot Day on March 16 this year.
