Von der Leyen announced that she held a meeting with President Macron following the "Choose Europe for Science" Conference.

She stated that they discussed major geopolitical issues: “In a world experiencing trade turbulence, our prosperity will depend on our unity, our ability to build strong partnerships, and the strength of our internal market.”

She also said they addressed efforts to strengthen the continent’s security, including the plan to boost Europe’s defense industry by 2030.

“Finally, more than ever, we stand with Ukraine – not only in words but above all in actions: enhanced military support, growing cooperation between our defense industries, increased pressure on Russia, and steadfast support for Ukraine’s EU membership,” von der Leyen said.
