Czech Prime Minister Fiala congratulated Eva Decroix on her appointment to the Ministry of Justice.

Fiala stated that Decroix is an experienced lawyer, a member of parliament, and Deputy Chair of the ODS. “She has been committed to justice for many years and has taken part in significant legislative reforms,” he said.

Fiala noted that Decroix assumed the post at a critical time, and added:

“The minister will initiate an independent review and establish regular and transparent communication regarding the entire case. However, this should not overshadow the fact that the Ministry of Justice has been doing excellent work. It succeeded in amending the Penal Code, strengthened the rights and protection of crime victims, and reformed bankruptcy procedures. The new minister has several tasks ahead: continuing the digitalization of justice, introducing a child ombudsman, and expanding the capacity of open prisons.”

Fiala concluded: “Eva Decroix is a capable expert who values transparency, and I am confident she will rise to the current challenges and advance the Czech judiciary.”
