Finland Calls for Preparations to Rebuild Relations with Russia
Helsinki, April 1 (Hibya) – During his visit to London, Finnish President Alexander Stubb emphasized that Moscow will remain an integral part of European reality despite ongoing conflicts. He stated that Europe must prepare for future negotiations with Russia.
President Stubb stressed that even though relations with Moscow remain tense, Russia will continue to be Finland’s neighbor — requiring a long-term strategy and readiness for dialogue at the appropriate time.
Stubb noted that any potential contact with Vladimir Putin must be carefully coordinated at the international level. After meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, he emphasized that a sustainable ceasefire and stable peace in Ukraine are prerequisites for dialogue.
Meanwhile, Finland proposed April 20 as a date for a full ceasefire in Ukraine, giving the proposal symbolic significance ahead of the Easter holidays.
