French President Macron met with his Chinese counterpart
Paris, May 22 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Macron stated that on the eve of his Southeast Asia visit, he discussed trade relations and international issues with President Xi Jinping.
He said that he reiterated France’s desire to build a strong economic relationship with China: “That’s why Chinese investments are welcome in France. However, our businesses must benefit from fair competition conditions in both countries. This is fundamental.”
Macron noted that they agreed to take swift action on the cognac issue for producers, and added:
“In Russia’s war in Ukraine, we share the same goal: a lasting and strong peace. It begins with an immediate and unconditional ceasefire. In the Middle East, we must also move toward a political solution that can ensure peace and security for all.”
