Highlighting that this year countries faced outbreaks of mpox, Marburg, cholera, dengue, and avian flu, while the climate crisis has contributed to the spread of these diseases to new regions, Ghebreyesus said, "On International Epidemic Preparedness Day, we remind all countries that common threats require a common response. The only way to create a safer world is to work together."
