Griffiths: Cyclone Remal affected 4.6 million people in Bangladesh
New York, June 1 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths announced that Cyclone Remal affected 4.6 million people in Bangladesh.
UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Griffiths reported that Cyclone Remal affected 4.6 million people in Bangladesh, destroying over 170,000 homes and leaving 17 million without electricity.
Griffiths emphasized that $7.5 million has been allocated from the Central Emergency Response Fund to support the immediate start of critical humanitarian assistance activities by humanitarian aid partners.
