UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his sadness over recent tensions between Yemen and Israel, saying: "I am deeply concerned about the risk of further escalation of tensions in the region."

Guterres emphasized that airstrikes on Sana'a International Airport, Red Sea ports, and power plants in Yemen are particularly worrying, and stated:

“Reports indicate that the airstrikes have caused numerous casualties, including at least three dead and dozens injured. The strikes followed the escalatory actions of the Houthis, who for nearly a year have been threatening civilians, regional stability, and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the region.”

Guterres reiterated his call for all parties to cease military actions and exercise maximum restraint.
