Heatwave in India kills 33 people
Stockholm, June 2 (Hibya) – According to the latest news in the Indian press, a severe heatwave in various regions of India has caused the death of at least 33 people.
Local media reported that among the dead were some officials performing election duties.
The ongoing heatwave has particularly affected the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha. In these regions, at least 33 people, including officials on election duty, have succumbed to heat stroke.
The India Meteorological Department predicts that the heatwave in eastern India will continue for another two days.
In the capital, Delhi, the highest temperature recorded this week reached 52.9 degrees Celsius. However, meteorologists predict that temperatures in northwest and central India will decrease in the coming days.
