Iceland elections: A total of 267 thousand Icelandic voters will elect their head of state
Reykjavik, June 1 (Hibya) - Voters in Iceland are going to the polls today for the Icelandic Presidential election, where there are 267 thousand people aged eighteen and over on the electoral roll, according to the website of the Icelandic National Register.
Of these, 133,868 are women, 132,921 are men, and 146 are transgender or registered as a different gender.
Polling stations will be open from 9:00 to 22:00 in the country's larger municipalities but slightly later in smaller ones.
In the elections, twelve candidates are running to succeed Guðna Th. Jóhannessyni became Iceland's seventh president.
The new head of state will take office on August 1 next year.
