IMF Chief Warns Against Retaliation to U.S. Sanctions
Washington, April 4 (Hibya) – IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva issued a warning regarding retaliatory actions against the U.S. tariffs announced yesterday.
Georgieva noted that they continue to assess the macroeconomic impacts of the announced tariff measures, adding: "However, it is clear that they pose a significant risk to the global outlook during a period of slowing growth."
In her statement, the IMF Chief said: “It is important to avoid actions that could cause further harm to the global economy. We urge the United States and its trade partners to work constructively to resolve trade tensions and reduce uncertainty.”
Georgieva also added that the results of their assessments will be shared in the World Economic Outlook to be released during the IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings later this month.
