The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on the continuation of U.S. sanctions.

The statement read as follows:

"Following the letter sent by the President of the United States to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, in which he expressed readiness to pursue a diplomatic path to resolve the unnecessary and artificially created crisis surrounding Iran's peaceful nuclear program, the Islamic Republic of Iran has begun indirect talks with Washington in good faith, based on national strength and self-confidence. The continuation of these unlawful actions will in no way change Iran’s logical, legitimate, and internationally lawful policies. There is no doubt that repeating failed and ineffective methods will only lead to a repetition of the costly failures of the past."
