Israel launched raids into Lebanese territory in preparation for a possible ground attack
Stockholm, September 30 (Hibya) - Israeli special forces conducted raids into Lebanese territory in preparation for a possible ground attack.
Lebanese media reported that Israel fired tanks and artillery at border villages adjacent to the area it declared a closed military zone a few hours earlier, ahead of a potential ground operation in southern Lebanon.
The area around Khiam and Wizani, along the Lebanon-Israel border, has been under artillery fire for at least two hours.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared areas around the northern Israeli communities of Metula, Misgav Am, and Kfar Giladi as closed military zones, near the Lebanese border.
IDF stated that entry to these areas is prohibited.
The decision was made following a situation assessment and was signed by Israel's Northern Command Chief, Ori Gordin.
