Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

"This is important for our security; it's important for our missile defense, and we will protect America's interests no matter what," said Vance.

Vance claimed Greenlanders had “clearly expressed their desire to become independent from Denmark” and said US aid would exceed the annual block grant paid by Denmark, which continues to control Greenland’s defense and security policies.

“According to the President, we could give much more money to the people of Greenland. Because security is vital for the United States,” he added.

According to Vance, the Danish grant equals around $60,000 per person annually in Greenland. However, it is unclear how the White House calculated this number.

Danish broadcaster DR said Copenhagen transferred 4.3 billion DKK to Greenland last year. Divided by a population of 57,000, that equals about 75,000 DKK per person – or roughly $11,000.

Earlier this week, the Washington Post reported that the White House budget office is assessing the cost of managing Greenland and estimating potential revenue from its natural resources.

Frederiksen is expected to leave Greenland today after arriving on Wednesday.
