Lavrov made remarks at the opening of his meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk.

Lavrov stated that many specific issues had been discussed in detail during bilateral talks held the previous day and that the Russian side would present its assessments to Lukashenko.

The Russian Foreign Minister said they would discuss recent international developments, preparations for the upcoming G7 meeting, and initiatives by the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Lavrov noted that the ambassadors of those three countries had come to the Russian Foreign Ministry and presented proposals that Moscow described as a “five-point ultimatum.”

The meeting is also expected to address issues directly concerning the Union State, which forms the basis of the integration process between Russia and Belarus.

The Russian and Belarusian leaderships have recently continued their contacts aimed at increasing coordination in political, economic, and security matters.
