Lazzarini: Since the start of the war, two-thirds of UNRWA schools in Gaza have been hit
New York, July 11 (Hibya) - Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), announced that two-thirds of UNRWA schools in Gaza have been hit since the start of the war.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini reported that four schools in Gaza were hit in the last four days, adding: "Since the start of the war, two-thirds of UNRWA schools in Gaza have been hit, some bombed and many severely damaged."
Lazzarini stated that schools, which are supposed to be safe places for education and hope for children, have turned into overcrowded shelters, often resulting in death and misery, and added:
"Under our supervision for nine months, relentless, endless killings, destruction, and despair continue. Gaza is not a place for children. The blatant disregard for international humanitarian law cannot become the new normal."
