Lazzarini: The siege on Gaza must be lifted immediately
New York, May 27 (Hibya) – UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini met with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in Tokyo, Japan’s capital.
The meeting addressed Japan’s long-standing and strong support for UNRWA and Palestinian refugees. Following the meeting, Lazzarini highlighted the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, noting that over half a million people are at risk of famine.
He stated that both parties agreed that humanitarian priorities must come first, stressing that the siege on Gaza must be lifted without further delay.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini called on the international community to act with shared humanitarian responsibility.
