Lazzarini: UNRWA launched the "return to learning" program in Gaza
New York, August 2 (Hibya) – The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, announced that UNRWA has launched the "return to learning" program in Gaza.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Lazzarini announced the launch of the "return to learning" program in Gaza.
Lazzarini noted that this is the first step in a long journey and that the focus is on activities that will provide children a haven away from the horrors they have experienced. "Children in Gaza are subjected to indescribable suffering. They experience trauma and shock from the 300-day war, displacement, loss, and pain. They have witnessed things no child should witness," said Lazzarini.
Lazzarini highlighted that teachers provide light in the darkness through sports, art, drama, games, and creating spaces to reunite with friends and make new friends. "This small contribution will help children reconnect with their stolen childhoods. The children of Gaza deserve safety. We once again call for a ceasefire for all children in the region," he said.
