Left alliance emerged as the leading party in the French elections
Stockholm, July 9 (Hibya)—In the parliamentary elections in France, the left alliance New People's Front emerged as the leading party, surprising everyone.
The far-right National Rally party, which emerged as the leading party in the first round, dropped to third place this time.
According to the initial results announced by Le Monde, no alliance was able to achieve the majority of 289 deputies required in the 577-member National Assembly.
The left alliance New People's Front secured 182 seats, President Emmanuel Macron’s Together for the Republic alliance secured 168 seats, the far-right National Rally party secured 143 seats, and the Republican Party secured 60 seats.
It is expected that French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal will submit his resignation to President Emmanuel Macron today following the announcement of the initial results.
