Macron met with US President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky
Paris, February 18 (Hibya) - French President Emmanuel Macron met with United States President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
French President Macron, after bringing together European leaders, had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s desire for a strong and lasting peace, stating: "To achieve this, Russia must end its aggression, and this must be accompanied by strong and reliable security guarantees for Ukrainians. Otherwise, there is a risk that this ceasefire could end up like the Minsk agreements. This is a key point on which we will work together with Europeans, Americans, and Ukrainians."
Macron pointed out that Europeans believe they must invest more and better in their security and defense both today and in the future, saying:
"For this purpose, Europeans want to accelerate the implementation of their agenda for sovereignty, security, and competitiveness. Work will continue based on the European Commission's proposals to support Ukraine as well as to strengthen and invest in our defense. This agenda, defined at the Versailles Summit in 2022, must simply be implemented. Decisions, actions, consistency. Quickly."
