Macron: The Schengen Area is a guarantee of freedom and security
Paris, June 14 (Hibya) – French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the Schengen Area is a strength of the European Union, and a guarantee of freedom and security.
President Macron recalled that 40 years ago in Schengen, France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands chose the free movement of their citizens within the EU and the joint strengthening of external borders.
Since then, he noted, 450 million Europeans have benefited from the free movement area. “The Schengen Area is a strength of the European Union; it is a guarantee of freedom and security,” said Macron.
