French President Macron announced that he spoke with Friedrich Merz to congratulate him on his victory in the federal elections.
He also mentioned that he spoke with Olaf Scholz and expressed his friendship, adding: "We are more determined than ever to achieve great things for France and Germany and work for a strong and sovereign Europe."
Macron emphasized: "In this period of uncertainty, we are united to face the great challenges confronting our continent and the world."
