Meloni meets her German counterpart Merz
Rome, June 16 (Hibya) – Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni held a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
Prime Minister Meloni announced that she met with Chancellor Merz during the G7 Summit in Kananaskis.
Meloni stated that during the meeting, both sides confirmed their joint intention to hold a new Intergovernmental Summit in Rome in early 2026, and to maintain close coordination on key EU issues such as irregular migration and competitiveness. “We also exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East and the conflict in Ukraine,” she added.
