In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index fell 0.86% to 63,806.27 points, while Australia's ASX 200 index slipped 0.06% to trade at 8,971.30 points.
In China, the Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.59% to 3,809.645 points, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index edged up 0.04% to 25,895.44 points.
In India, the Nifty 50 index outperformed, rising 0.75% to 24,565.80 points.
