More than 160 Gazan healthcare workers held in Israeli prisons
Stockholm, February 25 (Hibya) - The Palestinian Health Workers Watch (HWW) confirmed that 162 healthcare professionals, including Gaza's most senior doctors, are being detained by Israel, while 24 others went missing after being taken from hospitals during the conflict.
According to The Guardian, HWW Director Muath Alser stated that the detention of numerous doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers in Gaza is illegal under international law and further exacerbates civilian suffering by depriving them of medical care.
He added: "Israel's targeting of healthcare workers in this manner has a devastating impact on the provision of medical services to Palestinians, leading to intense suffering, countless preventable deaths, and the effective eradication of all medical expertise."
