Naidu: Rescue teams dispatched to crash site
New Delhi, June 12 (Hibya) – Indian Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu announced that rescue teams have been dispatched to the area after a passenger plane crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat state, India.
According to The Independent, an Air India plane bound for London carrying up to 242 passengers turned into a fireball and crashed near Ahmedabad Airport shortly after takeoff.
According to CNN, Indian media reported that a passenger plane crashed on Thursday at an airport in Ahmedabad in western India.
Footage from the scene showed thick black smoke rising into the sky.
Minister Naidu expressed his sorrow over the crash.
He stated they are on the highest alert level, saying, “I’m personally monitoring the situation closely and have instructed all aviation and emergency units to act swiftly and in coordination.”
Naidu added that rescue teams were dispatched and that every effort is being made to rapidly deliver medical aid and other support to the crash site.
