Ramallah - January 30 (Hibya) - Palestinian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Farsin Aghabekian Shaheen, welcomed France’s stance rejecting any plans for the forced displacement of Palestinian citizens from the Gaza Strip, as well as France’s recognition of Gaza as an integral part of the State of Palestine.
Minister Shaheen met with the French Consul General in Jerusalem, Nicolas Kassianides, in the presence of representatives from the Western Europe and Media Department and the Ministry's Office.
Officials also emphasized the importance of the ceasefire, its sustainability, and the need to protect the population after 15 months of devastating war, stressing that it must align with UN Security Council Resolution 2735.
Dr. Shaheen highlighted that the Palestinian government has begun efforts to provide emergency aid and repair infrastructure in Gaza to ensure essential services. In this context, he expressed appreciation for France’s continuous efforts to deliver humanitarian aid through neighboring countries and called for accelerating the entry of goods stuck at the Rafah border crossing and ensuring their distribution throughout the Gaza Strip.
The meeting discussed the next steps in holding a political consultation session between the two countries, France’s role and support in providing humanitarian aid and reconstruction, and relations within the European Union.
