President Erdoğan held a phone call with U.S. President Trump
President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held a phone call with the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
According to a statement from the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, President Erdoğan held a phone call with U.S. President Trump.
During the call, bilateral relations between Turkey and the U.S., as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.
President Erdoğan expressed his belief that as allies, Turkey and the U.S. will continue their cooperation in the new era with solidarity, sincerity, and a results-oriented approach.
He highlighted that regional and global developments necessitate enhanced consultations between Turkey and the U.S. on all matters.
Erdoğan also stated his support for Trump’s firm initiatives to end the war between Russia and Ukraine and emphasized that Turkey has been working for a just and lasting peace from the beginning of the conflict.
The Turkish president also stressed the importance of restoring stability in Syria, lifting sanctions, and enabling the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
Erdoğan expressed expectations from the U.S. to take steps considering Turkey’s interests in counterterrorism, lift CAATSA sanctions, finalize the F-16 procurement process, and reintegrate Turkey into the F-35 program.
