President orders army and police to patrol Venezuela's streets
Stockholm, July 31 (Hibya) - Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said on Tuesday evening that the country's army and police will patrol the streets in the coming days.
The speech came after unrest and demonstrations erupted in the South American country following Sunday's presidential elections, local media reported. Several NGOs in the country reported that several people were killed and injured during the demonstrations.
Maduro declared himself the winner of the election, but the opposition believes this is a lie, which has led to unrest. In his speech, Maduro also accuses the opposition of being responsible for the violence, deaths and injuries in the country.
