Qatar condemns Houthi statements targeting Saudi Arabia
Doha, July 21 (Hibya) – Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned statements by the Houthis accusing Saudi Arabia of imposing a blockade on the Yemeni people and enforcing a naval embargo.
In a statement, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 concerning freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
The statement emphasized that freedom of navigation in international waterways is one of the fundamental principles of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The statement also stressed that Qatar stands in full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, adding: “The security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of Qatar and the other member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.”
