According to a statement by Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Media and Communications Department Director Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hashmi said talks between the United States and Iran are continuing and that the exchange of messages between the parties remains ongoing.

Al Hashmi said Qatar is mediating between the two countries, noting that the efforts aim to achieve progress that takes the concerns of both sides into account and provides negotiable solutions.

In the briefing, which also addressed the issue concerning Iranian pilots, Al Hashmi said Qatar had maintained a clear position on the matter from the outset and that the Iranian side had been informed about the latest developments. Al Hashmi said they were open to a visit by the Iranian side to Qatar to discuss the measures taken.

Regarding developments in the region, Al Hashmi said Qatar supports regional initiatives aimed at protecting the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, adding that they support all measures Saudi Arabia may take to protect its security and territorial integrity.

Al Hashmi also condemned the Houthis’ actions targeting Saudi Arabia, Islamic holy sites and civilian facilities.
