Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov met with Chinese Foreign Minister Yi
Johannesburg, February 20 (Hibya) - Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a meeting with the People's Republic of China Foreign Minister Wang Yi during the G20 Foreign Ministers' Council meetings.
The parties welcomed with great satisfaction the development of political dialogue and practical cooperation between Russia and China as a stabilizing factor amid ongoing global turbulence. Special attention was given to implementing the agreements between the two heads of state and preparing high-level contacts between Russia and China in 2025.
A comprehensive exchange of views was held on global and regional issues, including Eurasian security, the situation in the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, relations with the United States, and the Ukraine crisis. The Foreign Ministers also discussed the interaction of the two countries in the UN, other international organizations, and various multilateral formats.
Wang Yi emphasized that Beijing considers it necessary to address the root causes of the crisis based on the principles of the UN Charter, particularly the unconditional respect for human rights, and supports initiatives for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis.
