At the initiative of the Russian side, President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
During the call, the topics related to the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane on December 25 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan were discussed in detail.
Putin apologized for the incident that occurred in Russian airspace and once again expressed his deep and sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
During the conversation, it was noted that the Azerbaijani passenger plane, operating on a set schedule, made multiple attempts to land at Grozny airport. Meanwhile, Grozny, Mozdok, and Vladikavkaz were attacked by Ukrainian war drones, and Russian air defense systems repelled these attacks.
