Sybiha: Russia must understand that continuing the war is pointless
Kyiv, July 18 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia must understand that continuing the war is pointless.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha announced the approval of the EU's 18th sanctions package, one of the strongest to date.
He thanked the EU and member states for their unity and strength, which have significantly increased the cost of the war for the aggressor, stating:
"The EU's new sanctions target Russia's energy and financial sectors, the 'shadow fleet' and its ecosystem, dual-use goods and technologies, and the 'Nord Streams'. I welcome the decision to lower the oil price cap and the additional measures to prevent sanctions circumvention, including through third countries. Depriving Russia of oil revenues is critical to ending its aggression."
Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine continues to work with the EU and partners in the sanctions coalition to cut off funding for Russia's war machine, force Russia to accept a full and unconditional ceasefire, and end its war against Ukraine.
"As Moscow refuses peace, the only effective way to advance diplomatic efforts is strong transatlantic pressure. Russia must understand that continuing the war is pointless," Sybiha said.
