Sybiha: ZNPP will remain a Ukrainian facility
Kyiv, June 3 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) will remain a Ukrainian facility and must be transferred to Ukraine's control in accordance with international nuclear safety standards.
Sybiha announced that he held a detailed discussion with IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi on the operation of the plant under Russian occupation and the key role of the agency in ensuring nuclear safety.
He emphasized that the ZNPP will remain under Ukrainian ownership and said: "Together with the IAEA, we confirmed that Russia’s attempts to restart the plant under occupation are technically unfeasible and extremely dangerous. The IAEA's participation in the 2025 Ukraine Recovery Conference and future joint steps for the development of Ukraine’s nuclear energy sector were also discussed."
